What should I do with this extra piece of material?

I bought this cape ( http://www.fancydressball.co.uk/mens-fancy-dress/mens-halloween-costumes/devils-cape-red-fabric-21706.htm ) to make a superhero cape, so I cut off the collar, but now I don't know what to do with the collar.

I consider myself pretty creative, always being able to take something apart and turn into something else, but this time I'M STUMPED

The only thing I can think of is a big Lady Gaga-esque bow for my hair, or shoulder pads (because it has a piece of foam in it) - but who wears shoulder pads, u know?

Also, CAN NYLON BE IRONED?

Actually quite a few garments have shoulder pads. Especially a tailored jacket or coat. I think shoulder pads conjure up the football shoulders that were popular in the 80's. A good shoulder pad goes unnoticed, with the exception of how well it makes the garment fit. You could possibly make a little clutch purse out of the collar. Or use that piece along with other pieces to make something usable. I have a pocketbook pattern that calls for strips of fabric sewn together. Some Nylon can be ironed. I would use a very low iron setting and a press cloth. Never let the iron touch the material without something between them.
