Spiderman 3 - Your Friendly Neighborhood Blockbuster

In 1962 a young cartoonist, Stan Lee, came up with an idea for a new comic book superhero. During a time when most of our superheroes were muscle adults, young Peter Parker struck an unlikely figure.

A teen-one filled with beans, gawky teenager shortsighted to expect to be the last boy chosen for the sport-Peter Parker was no typical hero. However, its shortcomings played a string with an audience of comics living through those very difficult times, victims of bullies who dreamed of waking up one morning with the power to stop, to make a difference, for someone-anyone-other than the nerd guy who saw in the mirror.

Flash forward forty years of the release of the movie Spiderman. Following the successful 2000 adaptation of another superhero, the first X-Men film, expectations were high for Spidey's first big-screen output. Not one to disappoint, Spiderman became the first film in history to take $ 100 million in its first weekend, and the film only to deny a Star Wars film first in the box office.

The second installment of Spiderman series did so well, taking $ 88million in its opening weekend, setting a record for the highest intakes in a day's opening over $ 40 million. If the enormous benefits and critical acclaim were not enough, Spiderman 2 went on to win the Oscar for Visual Effects.

Therefore, taking into account Spiderman series that has so far taken almost $ 800million in the U.S. box office, and much more overseas and in the years in the market rent for the next Spiderman 3 has some mighty big boots to fill.

From the looks of that director Sam Raimi has every intention of living up to the standards proposed two first movies, and more. Osborn will not be alone in their search. It is rumored that a second villain played by Topher Grace (Mona Lisa Smile, Traffic) will get a piece of the action. On the basis of a villain comic book series, Grace will play Venom, a symbiotic life form that consists of an alien life form and journalist Eddie Brock.
