How can I turn a black wig grey? (Dumbledore Style)?

I bought a black wig for halloween in hopes that I could turn in grey. I thought about bleaching it but wanted to hear from others first

The person above me mentioned the sharpie method (I prefer taking out the ink sticks in the markers, putting them in a vat of 70% rubbing alcohol, and letting the ink soak out of them so I can spray it on), but that doesn't work when you want to darken a wig. Same with any other wig dying method. You can only darken, never lighten. This is because you can't penetrate the fibers with the color, only color over the color that's already there. It would kind of be like coloring a black piece of construction paper with a grey marker. It doesn't work.

The only option you have is grey colored hair spray. I've used it on a wig before and then carefully separated each of the fibers so that it didn't look all clumpy and fake. However, it was on a light wig, so I don't know how well this will work for you.
