Some military garb is considered ‘Vintage' now, and costs a lot of money. Military uniforms from WWII can go for a lot of money if they're in good condition. How army clothes say that, I'm not sure; because wouldn't you think that they'd say another story. But, they really don't say that story. They say, hey – there was a war that we had to go through, but we got through it and we're all still here. There's always hope in old war souvenirs. Nostalgia has a large part in making things up, because the memory really doesn't remember things beyond about 20 years. We only remember memories of memories of memories. For, World War II was a scary time period. I was born in 1953, and back then there were fears that the world would be destroyed by the Atom bomb. There were "Duck and Cover" drills, and the air raid siren would sound every Saturday, making all the local dogs start howling. Our household income increased in 2008 since both of us worked two jobs and about 70-80hrs a week to keep our student loans and medical bills paid, and try to put a few dollars away for the future. We got shafted since we can't afford a house or kid yet to write off, anyone else have a similar story? I can't wait to see how much I'll get to pay in 2009.

You can deduct the interest you paid on those student loans, and the medical bills if they exceed 7.5 percent of your AGI.

If you don't have enough deductions to exceed the standard deduction, then all I can suggest is that you have your employers increase your withholding. That way at least you won't have to write another check next year.

The student loans won't last forever. Once they're paid off, it will be like getting a huge raise! Just be patient.

(Also, keep in mind that both a house and kids are HUGE expenses. You'll spend a great deal more on upkeep for both of them than you will possibly save on taxes.)
